To*Provide Hot School Lunches A large number of pupils tn the I local school have been bringing their lunches this year than ever in the past. Students of child health all agree that a cold noon lunch is espec ially harmful for growing children. Many cases of malnutrition, under weight, and many other health de fects. may be attributed to this cause. Many schools in Oregon are meeting this condition by serving hot lunch es to those who ore unable to go home at noon on account of the dis tance. The local school board has decided to inaugurate a plan of sup plying something warm, either a hot soup or hot cocoa, .at cost to those who bring their lunches. The cook ing class of the Domestic Science de partment will prepare the food as a part of their course. It is not plan ned to run this as a restaurant, but simply as a means by which parents can be assured that their children may secure the needed warm element for the noon lunch at cost. Children who live near enough to the school are urged to go home at noon, and those living within eight blocks from the school will not be allowed to bring their lunches with out special permission is granted by the principal, as in the case of es pecially inclement weather. This service will not be an expense to the district, as it will be oper ated on a cost basis. The Domestic Science girls will figure the cost of each item, which will be charged as conditions warrant. Soup will be about five cents a bowl, cocoa three cents, etc. It is planned to begin Miss Stutz, Monday, February 21. Instructor in Domestic Science, will supervise the work. INDUSTIAL LEADER EMPLOYED ' Miss Elizabeth Burr, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, has been em ployed as Industrial Club Leader for Tillamook County. She comes well recommended and has had a wide experience in this field of work. As assistant county school superintendent she had three years of this work, For three years entire following this, she had charge of the work as County Club Leader, in the same county. She has been especially strong lb live stock club work, and last year had 480 club members in her coun- ty. Many of hf r ’ members turned out to be state champions, in club work, also in stock judging work. She possesses the happy faculty of pleasing both children and parents. She is a graduate of the Northwes tern University of Evanston, Ill. We feel that her work will be a success among the boys and girls in this county. She is expected to ar rive here about February 15. G. B. LAMB. Co. Supt. The circuit court has put in a full week passing on the cases brought before it. Jesse Lee Reynolds and Walter Lee Brown pleaded guilty to the charge of burglary and were paroled on good behavior. They will not be allow ed to leave the county during the term of their paroles and must make report to the State Parole Board and to the circuit court. Phelps obtained a di vorce from Florence Phelps. The plaintiff had charged cruel and inhu man treatment. Lee Grimes was divorced from I vona Gritpes. The custody of their child was awarded to the mother ail Grimes ordered to pay $12.50 month ly for its support. Orilla Atterbury was given a di vorce from L. A. Atterbury and had her former name of Gillock restored In the suit of the Commercial Cor poration against S. R. Seabrook the defendant lost by default.
